Nutrition and Building Muscle

By Michael Davies of Build Massive Muscle Now

Building muscle is made up of 2 parts; the exercise portion and the nutrition portion. It is important to note that these portions are not equal. Building muscle in my opinion is about 20% fitness and 80% nutrition.

The reason why nutrition makes up such a big portion of the muscle building process, is because in order to grow your muscles and body need certain nutrients, and certain amounts of these nutrients in order to grow.

You could workout and exercise until you're blue in the face, and your muscles are completely torn and without the proper nutrition you would not gain muscle.

When it comes to nutrition there are 3 main nutrients that you mainly have to be concerned with. These nutrients include: Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fats.

Protein is VERY important. Protein provides your muscles with building blocks that they can use to repair and re-build the muscle tissue. Anybody looking to build muscle mass should get at least 1 - 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight.

Carbohydrates are also known as sugars. These nutrients are responsible for providing your body with energy. Carbohydrates are very important as they are also used in many of the muscle building processes within the body.

Fats always seem to get the raw end of the deal, but there are good fats and bad fats. The bad fats or saturated fats are the artery clogging types of fat, however the unsaturated fats such as omega 3 and 6 are beneficial and help with cell production, and the digestion of certain necessary vitamins.

Nutrition is a key component of muscle building. The biggest thing to remember is to only put into your body what you want to come out. So in essence eat clean healthy foods and you will build lean muscle while keeping as much fat away as possible. Eat junk food and you will gain more fat than muscle.
